Web Development with Cascading Style Sheets
The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) movement has now gained a strong foothold in the web design and development communities, for purposes far beyond text styling.
Modern web design demands a structured CSS-based, standards-compliant layout. Table-based layouts are difficult to manage and are discouraged by current industry standards.
Cascading Style Sheets can greatly improve the usability and accessibility of web sites. Two basic components make up every CSS-based layout:
- style rules that define the dimensions and layout of key page elements, and
- a corresponding series of xhtml tags, typically <div> tags, that form the foundation of the page.
